With MLB Spring Training for the 2018 season less than three months away, fans can use Topps’ latest MLB trading card set to familiarize themselves with the game’s top prospects.
MLB Spring Training games for the 2018 season begin in 11 weeks, with the Arizona Diamondbacks hosting the Sun Devils of Arizona State University on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018. When those games commence, the expanded rosters could feature some of the top minor-league talent in each MLB franchise’s farm system. That’s who Topps’ newest MLB trading card set, 2017 Bowman Draft, is focused on.
The set releases on Wednesday, Dec. 6, in hobby stores and on Topps.com. According to the official checklist, the 200-card base set features many of the top draft picks from the 2017 MLB draft, including Royce Lewis, Brendan McKay, MacKenzie Gore, Kyle Wright and more. The set isn’t limited to just 2017 draft picks, however, also including prospects who are closer to being major-league ready like New York Yankees infielder Gleyber Torres.
Each base card has a chrome parallel, and there are numerous autographed offerings in the set. 2017 draft picks comprise the majority of the autograph content in the set, which has a few highlights that show off the set’s design and Topps’ unmatched access to the players.
All-American Game Autographs is a small subset of five cards signed by players at the corresponding event. Draft Night Signings is composed of just two names, Jo Adell of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Miami Marlins’ Trevor Rogers, and the cards were signed at the MLB Draft. Chrome Draft Picks Autographs features the metallic finish that has made Topps famous among collectors. MLB Draft History Autographs boasts signatures from players like Derek Jeter and Randy Johnson.
The few months in which there are no games can be painful for MLB fans. 2017 Bowman Draft is now here to help fill that void, along with giving fans a look at who may be in camp with their favorite teams come February.
