2026 MLB All-Star game set to be played in Philadelphia

MLB has long-term planning in mind, with The Philadelphia Phillies playing host to the the 2026 All-Star game.

According to an anonymous source, The Associated Press reported on Thursday that the 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be played in Philadelphia and hosted by the Phillies.

An official announcement is expected on Tuesday in a news conference slated to feature MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolfe and Phillies owner John Middleton.

The reported reason for Philadelphia getting the nod in seven years is “to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence,” according to the AP’s source.

It’s quite the long-view for the MLB when it comes to the home of its annual All-Star game. So far, venues have only been announced for 2019’s and 2020’s iterations. This year, it will take place at Progressive Field on July 9, with the Cleveland Indians hosting; in 2020, it will head to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on July 14, with the titular team playing host. The 2021 MLB All-Star game has a date —July 13 — but no location as of yet. The years leading up to 2026’s game have neither locations nor dates announced.

No exact date has been set for the 2026 game, either, but it should be around mid-July as is typical for the affair.
