Going into the 2018 MLB season, the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers are getting the highest win totals after reaching the World Series last year.
Spring training is only a few weeks away, and with the Super Bowl in the rearview mirror, Las Vegas is gearing up for baseball season. On Wednesday, the MLB win totals dropped for the 30 teams, and to the surprise of nobody, the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers are getting the most love.
Houston is trying to defend its first-ever championship, and is pegged at 96.5 wins. Meanwhile, the Dodgers are locked and loaded for another run and come in just one win below the Astros at 95.5. The only other teams with a number more than 90 are the New York Yankees (93.5), Chicago Cubs (93.5), Cleveland Indians (93.5), Boston Red Sox (91.5) and Washington Nationals (91.5).
On the flip side, the Chicago White Sox aren’t expected to do much, sitting at a number of 68.5. Chicago is in the midst of a full-scale rebuild, so outside of some young talent and slugger Jose Abreu, it should be a long season on the South Side. The only other teams below 70 wins are the San Diego Padres (69.5) and Miami Marlins (64.5), the latter of which had a massive fire sale this offseason. Miami traded away a litany of top-end talents including Marcell Ozuna, Christian Yelich, Giancarlo Stanton and Dee Gordon.
If you’re looking for one line to bet, maybe the San Francisco Giants are your ticket. San Francisco had an awful season in 2017, finishing in last place. Yet the Giants loaded up this offseason with Evan Longoria and Andrew McCutchen, and with Madison Bumgarner healthy, a line of 81.5 isn’t too daunting.
